High Schools
In today’s high schools, students with intellectual disabilities often share the same hallways as all the other students in the school, however, they are left out of social activities. By establishing a Best Buddies Virginia Chapter at public and private high schools, we are crossing the invisible lines that too often separate those with disabilities from those without, by establishing one-to-one friendships. The simple act of having lunch together, chatting in the hallways, or going to a school athletic event makes a world of difference to our participants. One-to-one friendships are the secret to success.
If you are interested in starting a Best Buddies Virginia (BBVA) Chapter at your high school, contact Katie Kirkland, Program Manager, at 703.533.9420 or
